Heath Traditional Elementary
Heath Traditional Elementary School is nestled among majestic firs, sweeping cedars, and graceful birch trees. It is situated on the eastern boundary of the Burns Bog Ecological Conservancy in North Delta. Heath strives to support the joy for learning that is present in every child. Staff and students at the school are currently focusing on three goals – social responsibility, writing and reading. The Home Reading Program is a critical component to help all students strive to become better readers.
Annual school events and activities include the Terry Fox Run, We Day, Volleyball and Basketball teams for Grades 6 & 7 students, Hoop Shoot Basketball Challenge (Grades 5-7), Grade 6 & 7 Band, Track & Field (Grades 4-7) and Sports Day. In addition, there are opportunities for intermediate students to develop responsibility by becoming involved in various school jobs such as crossing guard, lunchtime classroom monitor and office monitor.
Other events or activities may include:
- Winter wonderland day
- Christmas concert
- Pancake breakfast and reading day
- Snowshoeing & snow tubing program for Gr. 7 students
- Spirit days including wacky hat day, messy hair day and beach day
- Heritage fair
- South Asian dance lessons
